Hey guys I know it's early (like 7 Months away) but I thought it would be cool to start a thread for all of us members that are looking to go to the big north or have booked a trip already hunting in Ontario this fall! I thought it would be sweet that maybe I would get the chance or possibly another couple of MS brothers or sisters would get the chance to meet this year at a bear camp or near by. I have met a couple MS members now that I have become good friends with!! So anyway if we could keep the thread going for awhile it could be intersting and fun to read! So anyway if you did book a hunt in Ontario, just mention what city near by you are going. What week you are heading up there, and maybe even what your target is! I will post mine first as the example! Come on guys it gets boring sometimes in the winter and I am sure we could we could all use a little something to talk about?

Heading to: Nearby Timmons, ON
Going: The 4th week in August
Target: Boar of hopefully 250lbs or more, (would be an awesome site though to get the chance at a color phase or even more rare, a blonde that looked like the one in a previous thread)

Let's go guys chime in!!!!!!!

Default we stay in mi, but wanna go to ontario!

our group hunts in gogebic county every year..we started self guided and in the last couple years hired a local guy to put our bait on the ground for the 21 days before the season starts...there is nothing that compares to bear hunting and we have a great experience every year....we draw a tag every year and have taken 5 bears in the last 2 years with 5 hunters, (well, 4 hunters and one clown!)....i took my first and second bears the last 2 years with bow and arrow and am looking for a bigger bear this year, my bears dressed out at 200lbs and 176lbs...
its nice to get to hunt every year and we enjoy the UP....but iv got a spot in ontario id like to try a self guided hunt, theres a place to camp and we will have to cross a river to get to the spot, but im guessing it hasnt had a whole lot of hunting pressure.......
i need a little info if someone is willing to share some...lets start with non resident tag and export prices, and do you guys hunt public land (crown lands?), what kind of success do you guys have, and do you travel up and bait prior to the hunt or do you head up and start baiting when the season starts?
any info would be great...

i believe the non resident tag was around 185 and i think the export permit was 25,, we go with an outfitter so they handle the baiting

Not positive about this but I believe in Ontario You have to go through a guide. Might be able to work something out with a guide to bait for You and pay a fee to him for doing this.

A guided bear hunt in Ontario runs you $1,100.00 and up, depending where you go.

Yep that is what we said too!!! I really enjoy bear hunting and I didn't want to wait another 4 years or more depeding on the hunt. We are surely looking forward to it, and I am sure the scenery will be awesome!! Good luck, and I hope we see some pics in the fall!
