Why you shouldn't shoot a skunk

Back yard of Detroit Suburbia.
Life is good, kids asleep, neighbors over for a cocktail and little suburban backyard fire pit.
All is right with the world.


And here he comes.


Everyone’s a little buzzed. Guy from 3 doors down says ” Dude…$20 says ya can’t tag the stink kitty with the Rytera.”


Are you freakin’ kidding me?


Never, and I mean NEVER challenge Kelly after Jimmy’s been visiting.

Part 2 Pictured Rocks Trip

After a bit the sun came out and we were treated to even more incredible views.





Ran the boat 30 miles up to Au Sable Lighthouse and it was enveloped in fog still.

A question I often get asked is, “What is your favorite food plot shape?” To me, there is no real obvious “one size fits all” answer. Most often the lay of the land and topography will dictate what is needed, but really the one common denominator is as long as possible…and as THIN as possible....

Looking back, how sad that statement was. It wasn’t that I didn’t like hunting with my family and buddies, it was just that I loved hunting mature bucks so much, as a one on one test of skill, experience, and patience I didn’t want the hassle...

Venison 101. A Culinary guide

I thought I’d pass along some tips that may help get the most enjoyment after you tag the big one

First we’ll talk about Venison.

Venison is lean. Made even leaner by the fact that the fat is not pleasurable at all because it coagulates at a much lower temp than farm raised animals.
What that means is if you add venison fat to a sausage recipe when you eat it and take a drink….it turns to Vaseline in your mouth. So….trim all the fat off. We can add a more palatable...
